Experienced Academic Leader and Researcher Dr. Natasha Halfkenny

An accomplished educator, Dr. Natasha Halfkenny has taught in Higher Education since 2018 and has held instructional leadership positions with Boston Public Schools for 25 years. In 2020, Dr.Halfkenny established Melanin Scholars, LLC. As the chief executive officer, she focuses on providing in-need students with financial literacy support, career preparation, and real-world professional experience, in addition to academic tutoring. Her work at Melanin Scholars is indicative of her commitment to the progress of inner city youth in areas of college prep and career readiness.

Dr. Natasha Halfkenny’s professional interests include equitable literacy and cultural equity in the classroom. She strives to refine and implement antiracist practices throughout the field of education. She also supports Black women in educational leadership and promotes the importance of higher education for Black men. Her study, Through the Eyes of Successful Black Males, explored the lived experiences of Black males who succeeded in higher education in the face of institutional racism.

Dr. Halfkenny received her doctorate in International Higher Education Administration from Northeastern University. She also holds a Master of Arts in Education from Simmons College and a Philosophy degree from Northeastern University.
